2026 SWA Run AWAY 5K, West Palm Beach
The 2026 SWA Run AWAY 5K is a trail run and walk held on Saturday, April 11, along the Solid Waste Authority of Palm Beach County Greenway Trail System in West Palm Beach. The event marks its 10th anniversary and highlights recycling and solid waste awareness while using SWA-managed lands.
The course guides participants over varied terrain and through landscapes that include cabbage palms, cypress hammocks, marshes and pine flatwoods. Runners and walkers can see portions of Grassy Waters Preserve and the SWA Palm Beach Renewable Energy Park along the route. The event is hosted in partnership with the nonprofit Resource Depot, and proceeds benefit Resource Depot’s creative reuse and environmental education programs.
There are in-person and virtual options: the main Run AWAY 5K runners and walkers category, a youth Run AWAY 5K for ages 10 and under (youth receive a participation award), and a Sleep In virtual 5K option. Place awards are given in overall male and female plus multiple age groups from 11 to 70 and over. Group registration discounts apply for groups of six or more, and corporate teams are recognized with a prize for the largest participating team.
