Sussex Montessori School Bunny Hop 5k and Fun Run
The Sussex Montessori School Bunny Hop 5k and Fun Run is an annual athletic event held in Seaford, Delaware. The event serves as a fundraiser to support experiential learning opportunities, student field trips, and the development of the school's Student Resource Room. Participants can choose between two main distances:
- 5k: A fast and flat out-and-back course featuring views of local farmland and a final lap around the school campus.
- Half-mile Fun Run: A shorter route designed for younger participants and families, featuring an integrated Easter Egg Hunt with hidden treats.
The 5k race is professionally chip-timed using the MYLAPS BibTag Timing System. Awards are presented to the top male and female overall finishers, masters winners, and the top three finishers in age groups ranging from 9 and under to 70 and over. Walking participants are also eligible for category awards. All 5k finishers receive a custom medal inspired by student artwork.
On-site amenities include face painting, a professional photographer, and a live appearance by the Easter Bunny. Following the races, festivities continue in the Barn with snacks and hors d'oeuvres from local restaurants. An optional post-race "Hoppy Hour" is hosted off-campus at Brimming Horn Meadery, which requires a separate wristband for entry.
