Event

The Superhero Showdown is an in-person and virtual running event staged from the Chuck Albrecht Softball Complex in Anchorage, Alaska. Distances offered include:

  • 1.3K Little Hero (limited to children 10 and under)
  • 5K Superhero

The event includes food trucks, face painting, games, a costume contest, and a finisher medal and shirt for registrants. Shirts are described as wicking, 100% polyester.

Course and format

The in-person course starts on Dr. MLK Drive near the Chuck Albrecht parking lot. The 1.3K course turns after about 0.65K and returns to the parking lot. The 5K is two laps - a short first lap and a longer second lap with an out-and-back section on Tudor Center Road and a long out-and-back on Dr. MLK Drive. The course is described as flat, wide, and usually on dry pavement. Starts use an open start format with a short window for participants to cross the start line. Parents may assist younger children on the Little Hero course.

Registration is open with tiered pricing through April 2025. Packet pickup is scheduled on dates before and the day of the event at the Skinny Raven downtown location and at Chuck Albrecht.
