Superhero Showdown
The Superhero Showdown is an athletic event held at the Chuck Albrecht Softball Complex in Anchorage. The event focuses on communal activities with a superhero theme, featuring two primary distances for participants to choose from:
- 5k
- 1.3k Little Hero Dash
The 5k course consists of two laps on flat, wide, paved surfaces. It begins on Dr. MLK Drive, heading east before completing various out-and-back sections on Tudor Center Rd and Dr. MLK Drive, ultimately finishing in the parking lot. The 1.3k Little Hero event is open to children aged 10 and under, following a shorter out-and-back route.
Beyond the races, the event includes a variety of family-oriented activities such as a climbing wall, inflatables, face painting, and a costume contest. A post-event barbecue is hosted by Masters Catering, which participants can join by purchasing a ticket during registration.
A virtual participation option is also available, allowing individuals to complete their chosen distance between April 11 and April 18. All registered participants receive a wicking polyester shirt and a finisher medal. The event partners with Healthy Futures to promote youth physical activity, with the organization providing on-site "Healthy Heroes" to assist with warm-ups for younger participants.
For safety reasons, pets, bicycles, and rollerblades are not permitted on the course. Participants using strollers are required to start at the back of the group. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
