16th Annual Superhero 5K and Fun Run
The event takes place on February 6, 2027, at Nathan Benderson Park in Sarasota. The start and finish are located on the island near the rowing finish tower. The course for the 5K is an out-and-back route and parking will be on the island with event signage for direction.
This is a Foster Care Awareness event with both in-person and virtual participation options. Distances and formats offered include:
- 5K
- Kids Fun Run
- Virtual 3.1 Miles
The in-person 5K uses chip timing for official finish times; overall and masters results are scored by gun time. Awards are given across multiple age categories, including overall and masters divisions, and 1st to 3rd place in detailed age groups from youth through 90 plus. Participation medals are available for the first 700 5K finishers. Additional trophies and awards cover costume and team categories, and medals are noted for participants who wear costumes.
Registration price tiers vary by date; on-site morning registration is available for higher fees and accepts cash, check, or credit. Packet pick-up is scheduled earlier in the week at New Balance UTC in Sarasota. Medals will not be distributed before the awards ceremony but alternate pickup options are provided after the event.
