Sunshine Run 5K - Newcastle Quayside
The Sunshine Run 5K is a 5 kilometre road race held on Wednesday 17 June 2026 along Newcastle Quayside. The event marks its 23rd year and finishes with a photo finish in front of the Tyne bridges. The start and finish lines are at Pitcher and Piano, Newcastle Quayside, NE1 3DX.
Registration is open in two categories, Elite / Club Runner and Fun Run, both covering 5 km. The entry fee includes a t-shirt, a medal and chip timing. Online entry closes on 3 May 2026. The minimum age for entries is 15 years. No refunds are available after the event entry closing date of 3 May 2026; if the event is cancelled for unforeseen circumstances, paid entry fees will be refunded.
Facilities listed for the event include a bag drop, toilets and water offered after the race. The organiser encourages additional fundraising but does not require it; the entry fee contributes to the charity's ongoing costs. The event is run under UKA Rules for Competition and is licenced by England Athletics (licence number 29085). Photographs taken at the event will be used and owned by The Chronicle Sunshine Fund for online and media channels.
