Sunshine Run 5K : Newcastle Quayside, 17 June 2026
The Sunshine Run 5K is a city-centre road race held on Newcastle Quayside. The event returns for its 23rd year and features a route described as flat and fast, finishing with a notable photo finish in front of the Tyne bridges. The distance is 5 km and race categories include Elite / Club and Fun Run options.
Entry includes a t-shirt, a medal and chip timing. Additional fundraising is encouraged but not required, and the event’s proceeds support work for children living with disabilities, additional needs and terminal illness through provision of specialist equipment. Minimum age for entry is 15 years.
Facilities on the day include a bag drop, toilets and post-race water. Event information will be sent by email and posted in the race Facebook group. The event is run under UKA Rules for Competition and is licensed by England Athletics, licence number 30942. No refunds are issued after the entry closing date of 3 May; if the event is cancelled for unforeseen reasons entrants will receive a refund of their paid entry price.
