The Sunrise to Sunset Challenge

The Sunrise to Sunset Challenge is a lap-based running event organised by How Hard Can It Be Events and held at Shrewsbury Sports Village. Runners may cover a single chosen distance or run continuously during the day to record as much distance as they can. Each lap is recorded on a lap card.

Distances available include:

  • 5K
  • 10K
  • Half Marathon
  • Marathon
  • Ultra (all-day ultrarunning)

The course follows a purpose-built 1 km cycle track. Previous experience of the route describes it as a fast course and notes that the big hill from Lightmoor has been partly flattened. Music, food and drinks are provided on site during the event. Facilities at the venue include a leisure centre with a cafe and toilets.

Placement for the event is based on the furthest distance recorded between sunrise and sunset, with the runner who records the greatest distance declared the winner. The event is listed in its 19th year and shows a range of entry prices in the source information. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
