The Sunrise to Sunset Challenge

The Sunrise to Sunset Challenge is an annual running event entering its 19th year at Shrewsbury Sports Village, Sundorne Road, Shrewsbury. The event takes place on a purpose-built 1 km cycle track and uses a lap format with lap cards stamped each circuit.

Runners may choose from several set distances or continue for as long as they like between sunrise and sunset. The winner is the competitor who records the greatest distance in that period. Organisers count laps and there are repeated passes of the supporting area, which provides access to food, drinks and aid stations during the event.

There is live music and food and drink provision on site. The course is described as relatively fast for a cycle track and the large hill from Lightmoor has been reduced in effect on the lap route. The venue is a leisure centre with on-site facilities.
