Event overview

Battle of the Borders is a trail running event organised by How Hard Can It Be Events. The next scheduled race date shown is 05/09/2026. The event takes place at Carding Mill Valley, Church Stretton, Shropshire, SY6 6JG, on routes through the Shropshire Hills and The Long Mynd. Race headquarters are at Carding Mill Valley near the National Trust tea rooms.

Course and logistics

The event offers two distances:

  • 13.1 miles - Half marathon
  • 26.2 miles - Marathon

The marathon is a single lap course with no loops or out-and-back sections. The route passes through a National Trust area and will be fully marked; runners are asked to carry a map of the area. Participants are expected to carry a rucksack with at least 500 ml of water and a basic first aid kit. There is a 7-hour cut off for the full marathon, and runners must complete their first lap by 12.30 PM to start a second lap. Aid stations are provided on the course and marshals will be present.
