Sunday Strides Series
The Sunday Strides is a recurring race series organized by the Howard County Striders. These events take place throughout the spring, fall, and winter seasons at various locations across Howard County. The series is divided into three distinct programs: Operation Iceberg in the winter, Vernal Velocity in the spring, and Legends of the Fall in the autumn.
Course Information
The races are held on open roads and pathways at local elementary and middle schools, as well as community parks. Course markings are provided; however, runners are responsible for navigating the routes as there may be few or no course marshals. Participants should be aware that no bathroom facilities are available at the race sites. Water is provided on the longer distance courses.
Participation and Scoring
Registration is open to runners of all ages and abilities, including both club members and non-members. Registration is conducted on-site on the day of the event, and the organizers only accept cash payments. A scoring system tracks performance and participation throughout each seasonal series, with points awarded for both finishing and volunteering. These points contribute toward series awards presented at the conclusion of each season.
