Sunburst Races
Sunburst Races is an annual road race event in South Bend, Indiana that offers multiple distances and community activities. The 2026 edition is scheduled for May 30 and will start and finish at the Century Center in downtown South Bend. Routes run through downtown, along the St. Joseph River, and through local neighborhoods.
The event program includes:
- Half Marathon
- 10K
- 5K run
- 5K fitness walk
Age rules apply: participants must be at least 6 years old on race day for the 5K and 10K, and at least 10 years old for the half marathon. Children ages 0 to 5 may attend without registration; all participants age 6 and older must be registered. All registered finishers receive a medal.
Sunburst has raised funds for Beacon Children’s Hospital since 2011 and organizers note over $1.3 million raised to date. Proceeds support the Child Life and Creative Services Program, which provides services such as art, music, and pet therapy to hospitalized children and their families. Fundraising through RunSignup is available but not required.
On race day the post-race area includes a beer garden for those 21 and older, a family fun zone with free activities for kids, live music or a DJ, and a casual awards program. Organizers also offer corporate team registration with no fee and no minimum or maximum team size. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
