Annual Running of the Lights & Jolly Jog : Mishawaka
The event is a nighttime running tour through Winding Brook Park's holiday light displays in Mishawaka. The course has multiple route options and returns to the start to allow safe crossing back to parked vehicles. Parking and check-in are at Walt Disney Elementary School, 4015 Filbert Rd.
Distances offered:
- About 4 miles full route
- About 3.5 miles short route
- About 1 mile super short option after the first section
Participants must check in at arrival and will receive a safety light to wear for visibility on the route. Traffic signs and volunteers will guide runners; the route follows the local traffic flow in most areas and may include sections running with or against traffic. Participants are advised to carry a personal light source to see roadway dips or potholes. Strollers are allowed if children remain in them. Dogs are not allowed.
The event supports area charities through donations. Fleet Feet Mishawaka will start donations with $1,000 toward a $2,000 goal. Organizers suggest a minimum $5 donation per runner to help reach that goal. The Teddy Bear Trot collects stuffed teddy bears for a local non-profit. For an additional fee, a Santa suit may be purchased for use during the light tour.
