Annual Running of the Lights - Mishawaka
This event is a nighttime running tour through Winding Brook Park to view holiday light displays created by park residents. The organizer intends to collect donations for area charities with a fundraising goal of $2,000; Fleet Feet Mishawaka will start the fund with a $1,000 donation and the remainder is to come from participant donations. A suggested minimum donation of $5 per runner is mentioned.
There are multiple route options for participants:
- 3.9 mile full route
- 3.4 mile short route
- 1.4 mile super short route
Parking and check-in are located at Walt Disney Elementary School, 4015 Filbert Rd, Mishawaka, IN 46545. Participants are required to check in and will receive a safety light that must be worn for the duration of the event. Traffic signs with flashing lights and volunteers will help guide participants along the route. The run finishes at the starting area to allow participants to cross at the traffic light back to their vehicles.
Additional notes from the organizer include bringing a personal light source to see road dips, wearing festive lights or necklaces, bringing a stuffed teddy bear for donation to a local nonprofit, keeping children in strollers if used, leaving dogs at home, and staying home if unwell.
