Event Overview

The Summer Loving running event takes place in Flushing Meadows Corona Park in Queens, New York. This event celebrates the first day of summer with two USATF-certified distance options:

  • 5 km
  • 10 km

Participants run through one of the city's largest public spaces, passing historic landmarks from the 1939 and 1964 World's Fairs. The course offers views of the Unisphere, Citifield, and the USTA Billie Jean King National Tennis Center. Both races conclude near the Fountain of the Planets.

Amenities and Facilities

The event features a centralized Festival Area where participants can access various services. Bag check and portable restrooms are available on-site. The hydration stations provide water along the course, while both water and Gatorade are provided at the finish line. After completing the race, participants can refuel with refreshments including bagels, pretzels, and apples.

Registered runners receive an official race tech shirt, which must be collected on the morning of the event. Free race photos are provided to participants via email following the competition.

Logistics and Participation

The event uses a pace-based corral system for the start, with assignments determined by the runner's profile. Timing and results are tracked via bibs, which can be picked up on race morning with a QR code.

The venue is accessible via mass transit, specifically the 7 train or the LIRR to the Mets-Willets Point Station. Parking at the site is limited. Please note that strollers and dogs are not permitted on the course. Due to the number of turns on the route, the organizer does not advise the use of handcycles or wheelchairs for this specific event. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
