NYCRUNS Summer Loving 5K & 10K
The NYCRUNS Summer Loving event takes place in Flushing Meadows Corona Park, Queens. Participants can choose between two USATF-certified distances:
- 5 km
- 10 km
The courses lead runners past several historic landmarks from the 1964 World's Fair, including the iconic Unisphere. The route also offers views of Citi Field and the USTA Billie Jean King National Tennis Center before concluding near the Fountain of the Planets. Due to the number of turns on the course, the event is not recommended for handcycle or wheelchair athletes.
A central Festival Area serves as the hub for the event. This area includes the bag check, restrooms, and bib and shirt pickup stations. After the race, runners can access hydration and refreshments here, including water, Gatorade, bagels, pretzels, and apples. All participants receive an official race tech shirt and access to free race photos following the event.
The race utilizes a pace-based corral system for the start, with assignments based on the runner's profile. Timing results are provided via email and posted online after the conclusion of the event. Awards are presented to the top three overall finishers and the top three finishers in various age categories, ranging from 9 and under to 70 and over, for both distances.
Mass transit is recommended for arrival, with the Mets-Willets Point Station located a short walk from the park. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
