Sugar Bowl 5K - Polar Cats Series Race 2
The Sugar Bowl 5K is the second race in the Polar Cats Winter Race Series, a low-frills, low-cost four-race winter running series created in the 1990s. It takes place at Mendon Ponds Park in Rochester, New York, near 1387 Mount Hope Avenue, 14607.
The series offers entry to all four races and includes Polar Cats sweatpants with an option to upgrade to Vuori joggers, a race t-shirt for the Holiday Bowl 5K (Race 1), post-race refreshments, and eligibility for age group and overall prizes. Participants may keep the same bib for all races or pick up a replacement at packet pickup.
Packet pickup is available Saturday, January 16 at Rochester Running Company from 11 AM to 4 PM, and on race day at the race site from 9 to 10 AM. Registration opens October 4, 2026 and closes January 17, 2027; the listed registration fee is $25.00.
Awards are presented to the top three male and female finishers for each race and for the overall series, plus age group winners for each race and for the overall series. Polar Cats races are scheduled to fall opposite most Freezeroo Series weekends this season with one noted overlap. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
