Suffer Better Fall Trail Run : Staunton State Park
The event features trail races on runnable singletrack trails at Staunton State Park near Pine, Colorado. Distances are approximate and presented as three main options.
- 50K (approximately 50 kilometers)
- 25K (approximately 25 kilometers)
- 5K (approximately 5 kilometers)
There are four aid stations on the course, located at the Bugling Elk and Staunton Ranch Trails intersection (mile 4.6), Old Mill (mile 7), Dines Meadow and Staunton Ranch intersection (mile 10.6), and Davis Ponds (mile 13.4). Athletes in the 50K pass those aid stations twice.
The event follows a bottle-free and cup-free policy; aid stations provide water and a hydration drink labeled gNarly for refilling personal bottles. Course maps, written descriptions, and GPX files are provided for each distance. Start and finish are located at the Lazy Parking lot about 1.5 miles into the park; parking at the park is limited and the Mountain View Park n Ride is about six miles from the start.
The 50K has a 9.5 hour overall time limit with an intermediate requirement to reach Aid Station 2 by the 8 hour mark or be directed to an alternate descent to the finish. The 25K has an 8.5 hour finish limit.
The event is organized as a fundraiser for Conservation CO and Running Rivers, and includes an award for the runner who raises the most funds. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
