The Bear Chase Race
The Bear Chase Race is a multi-distance trail event held October 3-4, 2026 at Bear Creek Lake Park, Big Soda Lake Beach in Lakewood, Colorado. The weekend festival includes the following distances:
- 100K
- 50 Mile
- 50K
- Half Marathon (13.1 miles)
- 10K
- 5K
Most of the courses run on dirt and crusher-fine trails with predominantly singletrack. Short sections of asphalt appear on the 50K, 10K and 5K routes. The course features notable climbs including Mount Carbon and Red Rocks View on the half-marathon loop.
Aid stations are located around the loops, including Start/Finish, Homestead, and Cattail Creek. Aid offerings include water, Tailwind endurance fuel, soda, sweet and salty snacks, fruit, PB&J and porta potties. Drop bags are available at the Start/Finish area.
Crew support is permitted at the Start/Finish only; crewing on course is prohibited. Pacers are allowed for the 100K and 50 Mile under event rules; pacers are not allowed for the 50K, half marathon, 10K or 5K. Park entry is complementary for runners prior to the race start; a Daily or Annual Park Pass is required for reentry once the race begins.
Medical support is provided with a main medical tent at Start/Finish and basic first aid at all aid stations. Live split tracking is available for the event.
