The Bear Chase Race
The Bear Chase Race is an endurance festival held October 3–4, 2026 at Bear Creek Lake Park in Lakewood, Colorado. The event offers multiple trail distances on looped courses around Big Soda Lake Beach.
Distances
- 100K
- 50 Mile
- 50K
- Half Marathon (13.1 miles)
- 10K
- 5K
Most of the courses run on dirt and crusher‑fine trails with predominantly singletrack. Short sections of loose or rocky terrain occur and some distances include brief asphalt sections. Elevation gain varies by distance, for example the 100K totals about 4,336 feet and the 50 Mile about 3,470 feet. Aid stations are located around the loops and provide water, Tailwind endurance fuel, soda, sweet and salty snacks, fruit and basic supplies. Restrooms at aid stations are portable toilets.
Crew and drop bag access are allowed only at the Start/Finish area. Pacers are permitted for the longest events with event check in and pacing rules; pacers are not permitted for shorter distances. The event is cup free so runners must carry their own hydration system. Medical support is available at the Start/Finish and basic first aid is present at aid stations. Parking and accessibility arrangements are provided in designated park lots. A portion of registration fees supports open space preservation in Lakewood and Bear Creek Lake Park.
