The Bear Chase Race - October 3-4, 2026
The Bear Chase is a multi-distance trail event at Bear Creek Lake Park, Big Soda Lake Beach, Lakewood, Colorado. Distances offered are:
- 100K (62.2 miles)
- 50 Mile (50.0 miles)
- 50K (31.1 miles)
- Half Marathon (13.1 miles)
- 10K (6.1 miles)
- 5K (3.1 miles)
Key race limits and totals: the 100K has a 16 hour time limit and about 4,336 ft total elevation gain; the 50 Mile has a 15 hour limit and about 3,470 ft gain; the 50K has a 14 hour limit and about 2,036 ft gain. Shorter distances have lower elevation totals and shorter time limits. Course records are listed by distance and finish time.
Course, support and rules
Most courses are looped sections that use marked singletrack and dirt trails - approximately 99% soft surface. The 50K and 10K include short sections of asphalt. Aid is provided at Start/Finish, Homestead, and Cattail Creek stations with hydration (water, Tailwind, soda), snacks, fruit and basic first-aid; porta potties are available at aid stations. Drop bags are allowed at the Start/Finish only. Crew may only assist runners at the Start/Finish area. Pacers are permitted for the 100K and 50 Mile under event rules; pacers are not allowed for the shorter distances. Medical support includes a main medical tent at Start/Finish and basic supplies at aid stations. Park entry and parking follow event guidelines, including complementary entry for runners before the race and required park passes for reentry.
