Stuc a' Chroin 5000 Hill Race

The Stuc a' Chroin 5000 Hill Race is an established event held at the Strathyre Recreation Area in Strathyre. Running annually since 1989, it is recognized as one of the first Category AL races of the season. The race takes place within the Loch Lomond and Trossachs National Park, providing a setting defined by natural mountain terrain.

The event features a single main distance:

  • 20 km with more than 1500 m of ascent.

The name of the race refers to the approximate total vertical climb measured in feet. The course covers two significant peaks: Ben Each and Stuc a’ Chroin. Because of the technical nature of the route and its classification, participants must be at least 18 years old on the day of the event to take part.

The competition includes both Championship and Non-Championship prize categories. These categories are divided by gender and age groups, including Under 23, Senior, and Veteran classes ranging from V40 to V80. Following the race, the event organizers host a prizegiving ceremony and a free evening ceilidh with bar facilities for participants. Registration for the event is managed through an online pre-entry system. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
