Trossachs Trundle
The Trossachs Trundle is a 22.4 miles challenge event organised by the LDWA - Heart of Scotland local group on 12 September 2026. It is intended for walkers and runners and follows a circular route that circumnavigates Loch Venachar in the Trossachs, starting and finishing at the HQ at Kirk Hall, Callander.
The route gains about 3350 ft (1020 m) of ascent and runs mostly on good tracks, paths and private roads. It leaves Callander, passes Bracklinn Falls and goes over Callander Crags with views towards Ben Vorlich, Stuc a' Chroin, Loch Venachar and Ben Ledi. The course joins the Rob Roy Way to the first checkpoint at Bochastle (about 7.6 miles), continues on the Great Trossachs Path to Brig o'Turk (about 13.7 miles), crosses Black Water and goes through Achray Farm. There is a checkpoint around 19.1 miles before the final section along the south shore of Loch Venachar and through Coilhallan Wood back to the HQ.
The event specifies a minimum age of 16 or older. Entry fees listed for the event are £22 for LDWA members and £25 for non members. Checkpoint locations and the mainly rural character of the route are noted for participants. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
