Stroke and Stride Series
Stroke and Stride is a chip-timed swim-run training series held at Turtle Lake Park in Shoreview, Minnesota. Sessions are run as simulated race time trials with self-seeded starts and posted results; the format emphasizes training, transition practice, and open water experience rather than competition.
- 500-yard open-water swim with self-seeded time trial
- 3.1-mile run 5K immediately following the swim
The series runs across six weekday evenings in June through August. Registration can be for a single session or for the full series, with discounts for multiple sessions. Event logistics include a secure transition area, lifeguards and safety support on the swim course, a water stop on the run turnaround, free parking near the site, and chip timing with results provided. Wetsuits are permitted and a bright swim cap is required for all swimmers.
Sessions aim to help athletes practice race-day procedures in a low-pressure environment, track training progress with timed efforts, and build open water confidence. The format is open to a range of participants from beginners working on swim safety to experienced athletes seeking a midseason fitness check.
