Stroke and Stride Series
The Stroke and Stride Series consists of six simulated race training sessions held on Tuesday evenings from June through August at Turtle Lake Park in Shoreview. These events are designed to provide a realistic competitive environment for athletes to practice open-water swimming and running. Participants have the option to register for the full six-session series or select individual dates.
Each session features a swim followed immediately by a run. The event utilizes a self-seeded time trial start where athletes enter the water one at a time at short intervals. The swim takes place in Turtle Lake and is monitored by a safety team and lifeguards. A bright-colored swim cap is required for all swimmers, and wetsuits are permitted. The run portion includes a water station at the turnaround point.
The available distances for these training sessions include:
- 800-yard swim (or 1600-yard two-loop option)
- 3.1-mile run
The events are chip-timed, and results are provided for all participants. The venue includes a secure transition area and free parking on-site and in adjacent lots. A professional photographer is present at each session to capture images of the participants. Packets containing the timing chip and running bib are distributed at the park before the start of each session. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
