Stroke and Stride Series
Stroke and Stride is a chip timed swim-run series held at Turtle Lake Park in Shoreview, Minnesota. Each session pairs an open water swim with a run on the same day, typically consisting of a 500-yard swim followed by a 3.1 mile run. The event uses a time trial format with self seeded starts and posts results after each session.
Sessions run across six dates in June through August: June 9, June 23, July 7, July 21, August 4, and August 18. The site offers free parking near the course and a secure transition area for athletes. Safety support and lifeguards are present for the open water swim, and a water stop is available on the run turnaround.
Participants must wear a bright colored swim cap during the swim. Wetsuits are allowed. The series provides chip timing, official results, and on site photography. Registration options include single sessions or the full series, and a military discount is noted for paper registrations. The format is described as simulated race training intended to help athletes practice open water swimming, transitions, and pacing in a structured setting without a bike segment.
