Strides for Education 5K
The Strides for Education 5K takes place on February 28, 2026 in Fort Myers, FL at Florida SouthWestern State College, 8099 College Pkwy. The event is organized by the Fort Myers Track Club. The course includes a shaded tour of the college campus. Proceeds support the Take Stock in Children Scholarship Program, a mentoring and incentive program for low-income Lee County students that pairs mentors with selected students, requires a minimum 2.5 GPA and adherences to behavior agreements, and awards a four-year college tuition scholarship to students who meet program requirements.

Event details
The 5K uses ChronoTrack Bib Tag chip timing for race results. Registration details list a price of $30 for the 5K and $0 for the Kids Run; registration closes on February 28, 2026. Pre-race packet pick-up is offered on multiple dates at the Foundation for LCPS, 2266 Second St, Fort Myers, and packet pick-up is also available on race day at the college location.
Awards include overall awards (top male and female) based on gun time and age-group awards 3-deep based on chip time across standard age brackets. Unregistered participants, unauthorized vehicles, bicycles, roller blades, skates, skateboards, strollers and pets are strictly prohibited; baby joggers are allowed but must start and remain at the back of the field. A heat warning notes that temperatures and humidity can be high in South Florida and recommends drinking fluids and wearing loose, light-colored clothing.
