Event Overview
The Strides for Education 5K takes place in Fort Myers, Florida at Florida SouthWestern State College (8099 College Pkwy). The event includes a 5K Run/Walk and a Kids Run.
Course and Event Details
The 5K course is described as a shaded tour of the Florida SouthWestern State College campus. The event is organized by the Fort Myers Track Club. The 5K Run/Walk is chip-timed using race bibs with chips. The Kids Run is free to enter for participants aged 12 and under.
Logistics and Registration
Packet and bib pickup is available on several pre-race dates at the Foundation for Lee County Public Schools (2266 Second St, Fort Myers). Race-day registration and packet pickup also begins at the event location. Teacher discounts are available during the registration process.
Awards and Proceeds
Awards are given for overall, masters, and grand masters winners based on gun time. Age group awards (3 deep) are based on chip time across many categories from 1-9 years old to 75 & Up. Strollers (baby joggers) are permitted but must start and remain at the back of the participants. Proceeds support the Take Stock in Children Scholarship Program, a mentoring and incentive program for low-income students in Lee County.
