The Striders Dismal Swamp event takes place on April 25, 2026 in Chesapeake, Virginia at the Dismal Swamp Canal Trail (Rest Stop at Mile Post 4, 1200 Dismal Swamp Canal Trail, Chesapeake, VA 23322). The program is part of the Tidewater Striders Spring Festival and is included in the Strider Grand Prix and Youth Grand Prix series. Distances offered:
- 5 Mile Run
- 5 Mile Competitive Race Walk
- Kids One Miler
The Kids One Miler is open to ages 1 to 22. Event prices listed are $35 for the 5 Mile events and $20 for the Kids One Miler. Registration closes at 9:00 PM on April 24, 2026. Paper entry forms are not available. Club membership discounts and certain automatic discounts are applied during registration.
Course, logistics and awards
The 5 Miler uses a 2.5-mile out-and-back on a closed two-lane roadway at Dismal Swamp Trail Park. The 1 Miler is a 0.5-mile out-and-back on the same trail. One aid station with water is located at the 2.5-mile turn-around. Early packet pickup is at Point 2 Running Company on Friday, April 24 from 3:00–6:00 PM; race day packet pickup is available at the parking lot near the starting line. Awards: top three overall male and female for each distance and top three male and female in specified age groups. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
