Event overview
The Striders Dismal Swamp event takes place on April 25, 2026, in Chesapeake, VA. The race program includes the following distances and event types:
- 5 miles - run
- 5 miles - competitive walk
- 1 mile - kids one-miler (open to ages 1 to 22)
The 5-mile course is a 2.5-mile out-and-back on a closed two-lane roadway at Dismal Swamp Trail Park. The one-mile event is a 0.5-mile out-and-back on the trail, making a full mile as an up-and-back route. There is one aid station with water located at the 2.5-mile point on the 5-mile course.
Logistics, entry and awards
Early packet pickup is available at Point 2 Running Company in Chesapeake on Friday, April 24 (afternoon). Race-day packet pickup is also provided. Registration for the overall event is open until April 24, 2026; registration for the kids one-miler closes March 30, 2026 and reopens March 31, 2026. A club membership discount of $5 is available through April 25, and Strider Plus/legacy discounts are applied automatically through April 24. Paper entry forms are not available.
T-shirts, onsite hospitality and refreshments are provided. Awards for the 5-mile event go to the top three overall males and females and top three in 10-year age groups. The one-mile event awards top three overall males and females and top three in listed youth age groups. The event is part of the Strider Grand Prix and Youth Grand Prix.
