Striders Dismal Swamp 5 Miler and Kid's 1 Mile : April 25, 2026
The event takes place at the Dismal Swamp Canal Trail in Chesapeake, VA (Rest Stop at Mile Post 4, 1200 Dismal Swamp Canal Trail, Chesapeake, VA 23322). It is part of the Tidewater Striders Spring Festival and is included in the Strider Grand Prix and Youth Grand Prix series. Race offerings include the following distances:
- 5 Mile Run
- 5 Mile Competitive Race Walk
- Kids One Miler
Course, logistics and awards
The 5 Miler is a 2.5-mile out-and-back course on the closed two-lane roadway at Dismal Swamp Trail Park; the 1 Miler is a 0.5-mile out-and-back on the same trail. One aid station with water is located at 2.5 miles, the turn-around. Packet pickup is available early at Point 2 Running Company on April 24 and on race morning at the parking lot near the starting line. Registration prices listed are $40 for the 5 Mile events and $20 for the Kids One Miler. Registration will close on April 24, 2026.
Awards for the 5 Miler include top three overall male and female and top three male and female in 10-year age groups. The 1 Miler awards top three overall male and female and top three in age groups 6 & under, 7-8, 9-10, 11-12, and 13 & up. All finishers receive a custom finisher's medal.
