Stretton Skyline Fell Race : 42nd edition
The Stretton Skyline is a very tough fell race of 19 mile held in the Church Stretton area. It is not recommended for inexperienced fell runners. The event is organised by Telford Athletic Club and the minimum age for entry is 19.
The route climbs to the summits of Pole Bank, The Ragleth, Caer Caradoc, The Lawley and the Long Mynd. Much of the course is unmarked so navigation is required. Some sections are marked in Little Stretton, Church Stretton and on the section between The Lawley and the final climb to the Long Mynd. Runners cross the A49 twice and should take care at those crossings.
There are four water stations on the route. Runners are required to carry dibbers that record time and position on each summit. Checkpoint closing times are used as a guide to whether a runner can complete the course within the event time limit.
Entry details include an entry fee of £10 and an on the day fee of £15. The event has an entry limit of 180 participants. The race base is Church Stretton Sports Pavilion. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
