Stomp The Stigma 5K Run/Walk

The Stomp The Stigma 5K Run/Walk is an annual event held at Shorefront Park in Patchogue, New York. Now in its fifth year, this memorial event honors Ellyana DeLaTorre and aims to raise mental health awareness during the month of May. The event takes place at 49 Smith Street and proceeds benefit the Elly CARES Project, a non-profit organization focused on community awareness and kindness.

Participants can choose from the following registration options:

  • In-Person 5K Run/Walk
  • Virtual 5K (Available from May 30 to June 7)
  • 12 & Under (Discounted entry for younger participants)

The in-person 5K features a USATF certified course. The event provides several amenities, including water and healthy snacks such as fruit and crackers post-race. Participants may also access pre- and post-race chair massages. An awards ceremony follows the run, with prizes for the top four overall finishers in various categories and top finishers in age groups ranging from 15 and under to 80 plus.

The event includes "Chalk the Walk," where attendees can create drawings and write positive messages. Additionally, the organizers host a drive for the Lutheran Church of Our Savior Food Pantry. Runners are invited to bring non-perishable food items, paper products, or personal hygiene supplies to support the local community.

Special features such as personalized bibs and commemorative t-shirts are available for those who register by certain deadlines in May. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
