Great South Bay 5K Turkey Trot Sponsored by Islip Fire Department

The event is a 5K run and walk held on November 26, 2026 in Islip, New York near South Bay and Main Street. It is sponsored by the Islip Fire Department and proceeds benefit the Islip Fire Department.

The course starts at Richardson Lane and South Bay Avenue, runs south to the beach, returns north on South Bay, turns left on Maple Avenue, then right on Monell Avenue and finishes at the Islip Fire Department. Camelbacks and backpacks are not permitted on the course.

Event amenities include guaranteed T shirts for registrations completed by November 7, personalized bibs for entries made three weeks in advance, free finish line photos, and live text and email results. The first 800 finishers receive a medal. A 50 50 raffle is offered with a five dollar entry and the last person to cross the line will draw the winning ticket. Online recognition is provided for top three overall male and female finishers and top three in multiple age groups beginning with 14 and under and extending through older age brackets.

Early bib pickup is available at the Islip Fire Department at 28 Monell Avenue on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday from 1:00 PM to 9:00 PM. Race day pickup is available at the northeast corner of South Bay Avenue and Main Street. Organizers encourage car pooling; parking is free at several town lots and along Main Street.
