Event Format

Gods Own Backyard Ultra Fall follows the "last person standing" format. Runners start a 4.167-mile loop on the hour, every hour. Completing the loop within the hour allows a runner to start the next loop. If a runner does not finish in time, they receive a DNF (Did Not Finish). Only the final runner to complete a loop alone is declared the champion.

Course Details

The loop course is approximately 4.167 miles per "yard." It is not flat and includes an elevation gain each lap. The terrain is a mixture of canal towpath, farmland trail, woodland trail, and tarmac paths. A separate, tarmac night route is used to avoid the canal in darkness. The course is fully waymarked and marshalled.

Facilities and Logistics

The event is based at Hunters Greave in Leeds. Camping is available at the start/finish area from Friday evening. Facilities include toilets, first aid cover, and an aid station providing hot and cold water, fruit, and sweets. There is limited parking; space for campervans must be pre-arranged. The nearest rail station is Kirkstall Forge, a short walk from the venue. All participants receive a Yorkshire-themed goodie bag.

Participant Information

Entry is open to participants aged 18 and over. Runners must wear appropriate clothing for the weather, and a headtorch with spare batteries is required for night running. Participants are advised to bring their own nutrition. The event is part of the Backyard Ultra Series. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
