Gods Own BYU Fall
The Gods Own Backyard Ultra Fall follows the traditional backyard ultra format at Hunters Greave in Leeds. Participants attempt to complete a loop of 4.167 miles (one yard) every hour on the hour. To remain in the event, runners must be back at the starting area before the bell sounds for the next lap. Failure to complete a loop within the designated hour results in a Did Not Finish (DNF). The event continues until only one person is left to complete a loop alone; this individual is crowned the champion, while all other participants receive a DNF.
The course features different terrain depending on the time of day:
- 4.167 mile loops consisting of canal towpaths, farmland, woodland, and tarmac.
- A specific night loop utilizing a tarmac canal towpath to ensure safety.
The day course includes elevation gains on each yard. Facilities at the start and finish area include camping spots for participants and support crews, toilets, and first aid cover. The organizer provides hot and cold water, fruit, and sweets, though participants are encouraged to bring their own specific nutrition. The venue is located a short walk from the Kirkstall Forge rail station, and public transport is suggested for access. All participants receive a Yorkshire goodie bag, and the event is open to individuals aged 18 or older. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
