Stanford Treeathlon 2026

The Stanford Treeathlon is scheduled for February 14, 2026 in San Mateo, California. It is hosted by the Stanford University Triathlon Team and takes place at 1901 J Hart Clinton Dr., San Mateo. The event combines open-water swimming, road cycling, and running in a single-day triathlon format.

Race format and categories

The race course consists of the following legs:

  • 750 m open-water swim
  • 20 km bike
  • 5 km run

There are two separate races on the same day: a draft-legal triathlon for collegiate and elite athletes, and the Classic Stanford Treeathlon, which is non-draft legal. Each race uses wave start categories listed as men's and women's, and the organizers state they will accommodate participants regardless of gender identity. Event categories listed by the organizer include collegiate athlete, age group athlete, paratriathlete, male team relay, female team relay, and mixed relay.

Entry and eligibility

Some event entries specify age limits: the collegiate event is open to ages 17 and up, while other categories list ages 16 to 100. Participants must be at least 16 years old on race day to take part in the triathlon. Registration was noted as temporarily closed while final details are confirmed; registered participants will be contacted by the organizers. Packet pickup, schedule updates, and other participant information are provided by the event organizers. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
