About the race
The Midway Shelter Winter Run takes place on December 5, 2026 at the Harbor Bay Ferry Terminal in Alameda on Bay Farm Island. The event supports Midway Shelter, an organization that provides emergency shelter to women and children and operates in partnership with Alameda Homeless Network and Building Futures.
Runners follow a flat out-and-back course along the shoreline of Bay Farm Island. The first half runs on Harbor Bay Road with closed lanes for runners and the return follows shoreline trails. The course offers views of San Francisco and Alameda Main Island. There is parking available at the Ferry Terminal and snacks and drinks are provided after the run. Awards for the 5K and 10K are presented on race day.
Packet pick up is available December 3 and 4 at Lauren's Closet, 1420 Park Street, Alameda, and on the day of the event at the Harbor Bay Ferry Terminal.
Distances and basic fees:
- 10K (6.2 Miles) : registration fee $55.00
- 5K (3.1 Miles) : registration fee $25.00
- Kids 1/2 Mile (800 Yards) : registration fee $20.00
The kids run for ages 12 and under follows a half mile circular loop on the shoreline trail and each child receives a medal, shirt and post-race food similar to the adult events. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
