St. Paddy's Day 5K
The St. Paddy's Day 5K is a community running event held in Hendersonville, North Carolina. The event takes place at Trailside Brewing Co and follows a route through the local area. Participants are encouraged to wear festive green attire. The race is open to participants of all ages and abilities. Registration for the 5K includes chip timing, a finisher medal, a long-sleeve race shirt, and a beverage (choice of beer for those 21 and older or a non-alcoholic option).
Available distances and event categories:
- 5 km: A chip-timed race open to all ages; strollers are permitted at the back of the pack.
- 0.25 mile: The "Little Leprechaun Dash," an untimed sprint for children.
- Virtual 5 km: An option for participants to complete the distance independently and receive race materials by mail.
The event supports the Mills River Partnership, a non-profit organization dedicated to protecting water quality in the Mills River. A portion of the proceeds from each registration is donated to this cause. While dogs are permitted at the brewery location, they are not allowed to accompany runners on the course during the race. Awards are presented to top overall finishers and various age groups, ranging from under 14 to over 80. Special awards are also given for the best holiday-themed costumes.
