Event overview
The Ugly Sweater Run is a seasonal road and greenway event presented by Hunter Subaru and scheduled for December 2026 in Brevard, North Carolina, with activities centered at Oskar Blues Brewery. Registration opens July 23, 2026. The event is subject to final permit approvals and the race date or course may change.
Course and distances
The event offers two distances:
- 5K (3.1 miles)
- 10K (6.2 miles)
The course is described as scenic and mostly flat, running through local greenways, around the Brevard Sports Complex, and along streets in Brevard. The 5K loop has less than 100 feet of elevation gain; the 10K uses a double loop of the 5K. Surfaces are all paved. The course is stroller friendly and allows well-behaved, leashed dogs. Participants under 14 are advised to remain with a parent or guardian.
Timing, amenities and formats
Races use professional chip timing (timing chip on the race bib, mats on course) with live results published online. Registered participants receive a short-sleeve dri-fit shirt (free through November 2 or available for a fee afterward), a commemorative finisher ornament, a goody bag from Hunter Subaru, and a bib ticket redeemable for a free beer. Awards are given for overall and age-group finishers. A post-race party takes place at Oskar Blues Brewery. A virtual option is available; virtual participants receive mailed swag. A group competition (Sweater Squad Showdown) awards $1,000 to the organization with the largest registered group of 10 or more. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
