Event details
The St. James 5 Mile Challenge and 5K Fun Run/Walk takes place on May 9, 2026 in Saint James, NY (packet pick up at Deepwells Farm, 2 Taylor Ln). The program includes the following events:
- 5 Mile Run (certified, timed)
- 5K Fun Run (untimed)
There is also a free block-party community celebration. Race entry fee for each running event is $30. Registration opens January 6, 2026.
Course and logistics
The 5 mile course begins with an uphill that levels at about 0.5 miles, continues with roughly 3 miles of rolling hills through the village of Head of the Harbor, then includes the Cordwood Path, a 0.5 mile steep incline, and finishes on a flat section. Pre-race packet pick up is available the day before at NexCycle Studios; race-day packet pick up is at Deepwells Farm. Parking is provided across from Deepwells Farm and volunteers will direct vehicles. The start line is located at the bottom of Harbor Hill Road.
Charity and participant incentives
Proceeds support Ronald McDonald House Charities New York Metro and its capital campaign to build a new $34 million Ronald McDonald House at Stony Brook Children’s. Fundraising incentives include a special edition sweatband at $150 raised and a sweatband plus branded towel at $300 raised. Registrants by April 24 are guaranteed an event t-shirt. The first 500 registrants receive a swag bag. Special recognition is given to the top three teams by number of participants. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
