St. James 5 Mile Challenge and 5K Fun Run/Walk
The event takes place in Saint James, NY and uses roads through St. James and Head of the Harbor, with packet pick up at Deepwells Farm and pre-packet pickup at NexCycle Studios. It includes running and community activities.
Distances and event types:
- 5 Mile Run (certified, timed)
- 5K Fun Run (untimed)
- Block-party Community Celebration (free, open to the community)
The 5 mile course begins with an uphill climb that levels off about half a mile in, continues with roughly three miles of rolling hills through the village of Head of the Harbor, then includes the Cordwood Path, a half-mile incline described as steep, and finishes on a flat section. The start line is located at the bottom of Harbor Hill Road. Parking for packet pick up is across the street from Deepwells Farm and volunteers will be on-site to direct.
The event supports Ronald McDonald House Charities New York Metro as part of a capital campaign to build a new $34 million Ronald McDonald House at Stony Brook Children’s. Fundraising incentives include rewards at specific levels and special recognition for the top three teams. Participants who register by April 23 are guaranteed an event t-shirt; the first 500 registered participants receive a swag bag. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
