Event Overview
The 6th Annual Daniela Conte Foundation Butterfly 5K Run/Walk & Fun Run takes place on April 25, 2026, at Heckscher State Park in East Islip, New York. The event includes a 5K run/walk and an untimed Kids Fun Run. Proceeds benefit the Daniela Conte Foundation, a childhood cancer charity.
Course & Location
The event is held at Heckscher State Park, Field 2. The 5K course uses the park's walk/bike path and is USATF-certified. An $8 parking fee applies for arrivals after 8:00 AM.
Race Details & Registration
The 5K starts at 9:30 AM, and the Kids Fun Run starts at 9:00 AM. The event occurs rain or shine. Participants can choose from in-person or virtual options. Registration pricing increases on March 16 and again on race day. The first 500 registrants are guaranteed a t-shirt and finisher medal, though shirt sizes are not guaranteed. Age groups for the 5K awards range from 9-12 to 80+.
Amenities & Activities
The event features an awards ceremony, a ceremony for cancer fighters and survivors with medals, post-race refreshments (coffee, bagels, snacks), games, prizes, giveaways, and face painting. Baby strollers and joggers are permitted but must line up at the back of the start.
