Daniela Conte Foundation Butterfly 5K Run/Walk & Fun Run
This annual community event features a 5K run/walk and a short fun run for children, hosted at Heckscher State Park in East Islip, New York. Proceeds benefit the Daniela Conte Foundation, a registered 501(c)(3) nonprofit that provides financial and memorial support to families of children with cancer, raises awareness, and funds research.

- 5K on a park walk and bike path
- Kids Fun Run for ages 8 and under
Event amenities include post race refreshments, coffee and bagels, games, face painting, and entertainment. A post race award ceremony is planned, with medals for cancer fighters and survivors and a guaranteed T shirt and finisher medal for the first 500 registrants. Participants over 21 are eligible for a complimentary pint provided by a local brewery. Baby strollers and baby joggers are permitted on course but must line up at the back.
The 5K uses a USATF certified course that follows the park walk/bike path. Awards include trophies for the top three overall male and female finishers and quality medals for the top three male and female in multiple age groups from youth through 80 plus. Bibs are issued to all participants; virtual participants receive mailed bibs and can upload times and photos on the event date. Registration is not yet open.
