St. George Triathlon
This event combines swimming, biking, and running on a consolidated course centered around the Sand Hollow Aquatic Center (SHAC) in St. George, UT (1140 N 2400 W). Activities and transitions are located near the SHAC to keep race areas close together for participants and spectators.
Participants choose among five race options: Adult Individual Sprint, Adult Sprint Relay, Adult Beginner, Kid's Sprint, and Kid's Beginner. Swim start waves are assigned at registration; the first wave is reserved for elite competitors. The Adult Sprint Relay allows teams of up to three athletes and has categories for Open Men, Open Women, and Mixed; one team member registers as captain and invites teammates to complete team registration.
Swim details: indoor pool heats of about 20 racers, two people per full-sized lane, pool temperature 81 - 84 degrees, and lap counters will be available. Bike and run courses are out-and-back or looped on nearby roads and paths. Basic rules include securing helmets before removing bikes from the rack, no earbuds or headphones while on the bike, mounting and dismounting at designated lines, and no riding in the transition area. One earbud may be worn during the run. An aid station is located mid-course on the run route.
All finishers receive a finisher medal. The Individual Sprint awards top three male and female finishers in each 5-year age group; sprint relay awards are given to the top team in each category; the top three in the Kids Sprint receive awards. Volunteer opportunities are managed through the event registration system. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
