Event Format
The Last One Standing Ultra Marathon is a self-supported elimination race. Adult participants run a 6-mile loop on the asphalt Mayor's Loop trail. Each loop starts precisely 90 minutes after the previous one begins. To remain in the race, a runner must complete the loop and be back at the start/finish line within that 90-minute window. Runners who fail to meet the cutoff are eliminated.
There are 17 loops scheduled, with the final loop being a race to determine the overall winners. Completing all loops equals a distance of 102 miles. A separate kids' division features a 5.3-mile loop where participants may use non-motorized transportation like bicycles or scooters.
Course and Logistics
The course follows the Mayor's Loop trail in Saint George, Utah, offering views of the Virgin River and the city. The start/finish area and packet pickup are at Crosby Family Confluence Park. The park is available for runners to set up personal, non-reservable campsites on race day.
An unattended aid station is located approximately halfway through the loop at St. James Park. It provides water, sports drink, and energy gels. The course remains open to the public during the event.
Awards
All runners who complete the first loop on time receive a finisher's medal. A button is awarded after each subsequent lap. Those who complete all 17 loops receive a belt buckle. The overall male and female winners receive a champion's belt and a basket of goods. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
