About the race
The St David's Day Run is held at Bute Park, Coopers Field, Cardiff CF10 3DX. The event includes multiple distances and a children's mini run. The course runs on park paths and is described as flat; road running shoes are recommended.
Distances:
- 5 km one lap
- 10 km two laps
- Half marathon four laps plus an additional 1.1 km loop
- Mini run for children
The event uses chip-on-bib timing and provides split times for each lap. The course is marked and marshalled, with marshals positioned around the route. Facilities at the event hub include toilets at Coopers Field and bag storage next to the registration tents; space for bag storage is limited. Parking is available in and around the park but there is no parking within Bute Park; attendees are advised to allow time for parking. Cardiff Central train station is about a ten-minute walk from the park.
Organisers work with Cancer Research Wales and Kidney Wales; a donation from every entry fee is allocated to each charity and limited charity places are offered. Participants receive a medal, drinks and refreshments on the day, and instant race results will be published after the event. The course may be altered if needed and is on public land, so runners should follow marshal instructions and stay on the left unless directed otherwise.
