Dragon Coastal Races 2026

The Dragon Coastal Races take place on 18 and 19 July 2026 and consist of three point-to-point races that follow sections of the Wales Coast Path to a common finish at the Norwegian Church in Cardiff Bay.

  • 100 miles from Rhossili Bay to Cardiff Bay
  • 50 miles from Kenfig Sands to Cardiff Bay
  • 30 miles from Dunraven Bay to Cardiff Bay

Routes use clear, non-technical trails and pass a variety of coastal and inland terrain including sandy beaches, steep sand dunes, shifting shingle, coastal cliffs, forest singletrack and parkland. The 100-mile course passes the southern Gower coastline, Swansea Bay, Afan Forest and Margam Park before joining the Kenfig section.

Route statistics and support structures are provided for each distance. Approximate ascent: Dragon 100 ~3400 m, Dragon 50 ~1300 m, Dragon 30 ~460 m. Checkpoints: 12 for the 100, 7 for the 50 and 4 for the 30, offering sweet and savoury snacks and hot and cold drinks. Drop bags are available for the 100 and 50.

The course is waymarked with Wales Coast Path signs plus additional arrows and luminous markers where required. GPS files, a marked map and live GPS tracking are provided. A compulsory kit list must be carried and cut off times at checkpoints apply; distances and ascent are approximate and may be adjusted.
