About the race
Dragon Coastal Races are three ultra-trail events along the Wales Coast Path, offering 100-mile, 50-mile, and ~30-mile options from Rhossili Bay to Cardiff Bay (via Kenfig and Southerndown). All routes follow the coast path and finish at the Norwegian Church in Cardiff Bay after crossing the Barrage and the Captain Scott Memorial. The course is non-technical and runner-friendly, featuring beaches, dunes (Merthyr Mawr), shingle and forest sections as daylight gives way to dawn.
Route ascent ranges from about 3,400 m for the 100‑mile, ~1,300 m for the 50‑mile, and ~460 m for ~30‑mile. Highlights include luminous wayfinding, GPS maps, multiple checkpoints with refreshments, and drop bags for longer races, plus spectator-friendly scenery.
