11th Annual SSG Michael Ollis 5K Run & Walk
The event is a USTAF certified 5K run and walk held in New Dorp, Staten Island. It serves as the first leg of the Staten Island Triple Crown and includes an in-person 5K, a Triple Crown registration option, a virtual 5K, and volunteer opportunities.
Registration opens in early February and the event uses tiered pricing: before May 1 the fee is $30, from May 1 through June 12 the fee is $35, and race-day registration is $50. A Triple Crown registration is offered with a combined fee and a $5 discount applied to each of the three races. A separate virtual 5K registration is available with its own fee.
Race packets and bibs are distributed at the SSG Michael Ollis VFW Post at 575 Mill Road on the Thursday and Friday before the race, with afternoon to evening pickup hours. Raffle and 50/50 tickets are sold prior to the event and winners are selected following the race.
The event is organized by the SSG Michael Ollis Freedom Foundation, a not-for-profit organization. After event expenses, proceeds are used by the foundation to provide assistance and support to combat veterans re-entering civilian life.
