The NYCRUNS Ugly Sweater 5K takes place in Prospect Park, Brooklyn on Saturday, December 5, 2026. Participants are encouraged to wear festive sweaters. The event includes a festival area in the Nethermead with bib pickup, gear check, and post-race refreshments.

Course and festival

The 5K course covers just under one full loop of Prospect Park and finishes with a final straight up Center Drive. The course is USATF-certified. The Festival Area is accessible from Center Drive or walking paths off Well House Drive and is adjacent to the race finish.

Logistics and policies

NYCRUNS uses pace-based start corrals assigned by letter (AA-F); corral assignments appear on the bib and are based on the pace listed in the runner profile. Bibs are available only for pick up on race day unless mailed; NYCRUNS members receive free bib mailing (mailing requires registration at least 20 days before the event and a U.S. address). Bag check requires a single clear bag; organizers may provide a clear bag and reserve the right to search contents. Water is available on course; Gatorade and water are provided at the finish. Post-race food includes bagels with schmear and fresh fruit. Swag includes a tech shirt and a finisher medal; shirts are distributed on race day and sizes are not guaranteed. Handcycle and Wheelchair divisions are included. Results are emailed and posted online. Standard no-refunds, no-transfers policy applies. Strollers and dogs are not allowed.
