NYCRUNS Ugly Sweater 5K
The event is a festive 5K held in Prospect Park that encourages participants to wear an ugly sweater. The course covers just under one full loop of the park and finishes after a final sprint up Center Drive. All NYCRUNS courses are USATF-certified. Start corrals use a pace-based system with lettered assignments (AA to F) and are located on Well House Drive. The Festival Area is in the Nethermead and can be reached via Center Drive or the walking paths off Well House Drive.
Amenities include bag check (one single clear bag required), portable bathrooms, water on the course, and Gatorade and water at the finish. Post-race refreshments include bagels with a schmear and fresh fruit. Race swag consists of a tech shirt and a finisher medal; shirts are available on race day only and sizes are not guaranteed. Bibs are available for pickup in the Festival Area on race day with a unique QR code; NYCRUNS members may have bibs mailed under specific conditions and non-members can add mailing for an additional fee. Handcycle and Wheelchair Division athletes are accommodated and should plan to arrive early for bib pickup and start-line placement. Results are posted after the race and awards are given to the top three male, female, and non-binary overall finishers and to top three finishers in standard age groups. Standard no-refunds, no-transfers policies apply; strollers and dogs are not allowed. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
