NYCRUNS Ugly Sweater 5K
The NYCRUNS Ugly Sweater 5K is scheduled for December 5, 2026 in Prospect Park, Brooklyn, NY. The event encourages participants to wear an "ugly" sweater or other comfortable attire for a holiday themed 5K that finishes on Center Drive and returns runners to the festival area.
The course covers just under one full loop of Prospect Park and is USATF certified. The Festival Area is located in the Nethermead and can be accessed via Center Drive or the walking paths off Well House Drive. The Start Corrals are pace based and assigned by letter (AA through F); corral locations are on Well House Drive and assignments appear on the bib based on the pace in the NYCRUNS Dashboard.
On-site amenities include bag check (single clear bag required, 18 x 24 available if needed), portable bathrooms in corrals and along the course, water stations on course, and post-race refreshments including Essentia water, Gatorade, an apple, and a bagel with schmear. Every registrant receives a tech participant shirt and a finisher medal unless they opt out; shirts are distributed on race day only and sizes are not guaranteed. Race photos include one free download per entry and discounted photo packages are available at registration.
NYCRUNS Members receive free bib mailing where eligible and other member benefits. Handcycle and Wheelchair divisions are accepted; athletes in those divisions should plan to arrive early and position themselves ahead of the start corrals for safety. Results and awards are posted after the race, with overall and age group prizes for male, female, and non-binary categories.
