NYCRUNS Ugly Sweater 5K

NYCRUNS Ugly Sweater 5K is a holiday-themed 5K held in Prospect Park, Brooklyn on December 5, 2026. Participants are encouraged to wear an ugly sweater or their preferred running apparel. The course covers just under one full loop of the park with a final sprint up Center Drive and is USATF-certified.

The Festival Area in the Nethermead provides bib and shirt pick-up, bag check (single clear bag 18 x 24), portable bathrooms in corrals and along the course, and on-course water. Post-race refreshments include Essentia water, Gatorade, an apple, and a bagel with schmear. Every registrant receives a race tech shirt and a finisher medal by default; both items can be opted out at checkout. Shirts are distributed on race day only and sizes are not guaranteed. Photo packages can be pre-purchased; a free race photo is provided and marked "Free Download" in the event gallery.

Start corrals are pace-based (letters AA-F) and located on Well House Drive, with corral assignments printed on each bib. NYCRUNS members receive benefits such as a member discount, race credit options, and free bib mailing when membership is active on race day; bib mailing is available only to U.S. addresses for registrations received at least 20 days before the event. Handcycle and Wheelchair divisions are accepted and athletes are entered based on account settings.

Results will be emailed and posted online. Awards are given to the top three male, female, and non-binary overall (gun time) and to the top three in each age group by net/chip time: 9 and under, 10-14, 15-19, 20-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, 60-69, and 70 and over. Policies include no refunds and no transfers; members may withdraw for race credit. Strollers and dogs are not allowed, earbuds that hinder awareness may lead to disqualification, celebratory confetti cannons are prohibited, and time limits apply.
