The Race

This festive 5K race takes place in Prospect Park, Brooklyn. Participants are encouraged to wear their "ugliest" sweaters. The finish line gift is a finisher's medal.

Course Details

The course is a USATF-certified loop within Prospect Park, measuring just under one full loop of the park. The finish is a sprint up Center Drive.

Amenities

Bag check is available but requires the use of a single clear bag, which is provided if needed. Portable bathrooms are available. Water is provided on the course, with Gatorade and water at the finish. Post-race refreshments include a bagel and fresh fruit. A tech shirt and finisher's medal are provided as swag; shirts can only be picked up on race day. Free race photos are provided via email after the event.

Logistics

The festival area is located in the Nethermead, accessible from Center Drive or walking paths off Well House Drive. Start corrals are pace-based and labeled AA-F. Bibs are distributed at the festival area on race day starting at 7:00 AM using a unique QR code. For NYCRUNS members, bibs are mailed at no cost if registration is completed 20+ days before the event. Non-members can pay for bib mailing.

Access and Awards

Handcycle and wheelchair division athletes are welcome. Awards are given to the top three overall male, female, and non-binary finishers. Age group awards are also given. The event qualifies runners for the NYCRUNS Local Elite Athlete Race Entry Program.

Transportation and Policies

Public transit is recommended. The closest subway stops are Prospect Park Station (S, Q trains) and 15th St-Prospect Park Station (F, G trains). Several bus lines also serve the area. Citi Bike stations are nearby. Parking is limited. Race policies include no strollers, no dogs, and disqualification if headphones hinder awareness.
