NYCRUNS Ugly Sweater 5K : Prospect Park, Brooklyn
The NYCRUNS Ugly Sweater 5K is a themed five kilometer race held in Prospect Park on December 5, 2026. The 5K course covers just under one full loop of the park and finishes with a final sprint up Center Drive. All NYCRUNS courses are USATF certified.
A Festival Area is located in the Nethermead and is accessible via Center Drive or the walking paths off Well House Drive. The Festival Area houses bib pickup, bag check, participant shirt distribution, restrooms, and post-race refreshments. Amenities include bag check (one single clear bag required, NYCRUNS can provide a clear bag 18" x 24"), portable bathrooms, water on course, Gatorade and water at the finish, participant tech shirts distributed on race day only, post-race bagels and fresh fruit, and a finisher medal.
Start corrals are pace based, assigned by letter AA through F, and are located on Well House Drive; corral assignment appears on each bib and is based on the pace listed in a runner’s NYCRUNS Dashboard. Bibs are available for pick up on race day with a unique QR code; NYCRUNS members may opt to receive mailed bibs when registering at least 20 days before the event to U.S. addresses, and non-members can purchase mailed bibs for an additional fee. Shirts are not mailed.
Handcycle and wheelchair divisions are accepted with specific check-in and start line procedures. Results, official awards for overall and age group placings, and race photos are provided after the event. Standard no-refund, no-transfer policies apply; strollers and dogs are not allowed and certain competition rules and time limits are enforced.
