Cardiff 5K Road Race Series
The SSAFA Cardiff 5K Road Race Series is an annual sequence of three running events held in Cardiff. Established in 1998, the series serves as a fundraiser for SSAFA South East Wales. Participants have the option to register for a single race, two races, or the complete three-part series. The events take place at the Blackweir Tavern on North Road.
The series is conducted as a competitive event under the rules of UK Athletics and Welsh Athletics and is included in the CAAC Calendar. The scheduled dates for the series are:
- 5 km (Wednesday 20 May)
- 5 km (Wednesday 3 June)
- 5 km (Wednesday 22 July)
The race is open to individual runners and club members across different experience levels, with a minimum age requirement of 11 years old on the day of the event.
The event headquarters at Blackweir Tavern is accessible via public transport or car. The Cathays train station is located a short walking distance from the venue. For those arriving by vehicle, parking at the tavern is limited. Alternative pay and display parking facilities are available further along North Road (A470). Accessing these car parks is recommended by traveling away from the city center to allow for a left-hand turn into the parking areas.
