The Mendips Epic Trail takes place in the Mendip Hills near Winscombe. The event offers participants the choice between traditional trail running and rucking, which involves covering the course while wearing a weighted backpack. Organized by Superhuman Sports, the event includes multiple distance options and categories for different experience levels.
Participants can choose from the following distances and formats:
- 8 km Open Trail Run
- 8 km Pro Trail Run
- 8 km Open Ruck
- 8 km Pro Ruck
- 14 km Open Trail Run
- 14 km Pro Trail Run
- 14 km Open Ruck
- 14 km Pro Ruck
The Pro categories are competitive formats with age groups for those 35 or below, 36-42, and 43+. In the Ruck categories, the organizer provides GORUCK Rucker 4.0 backpacks to ensure uniformity. Pro Ruck participants carry 11.3 kg for men and 6.8 kg for women, while Open Ruck participants carry 6.8 kg for men and 4.5 kg for women. Open categories are non-competitive formats for those who prefer to complete the course at their own pace.
The event facilities include a bag drop area, toilets, and water stations located along the course. Food and drink vendors, as well as fitness apparel and merchandise stalls, are available on-site. Every finisher receives a medal or a patch, and prizes are awarded to the overall top three men and women in the Pro categories. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
