Sri Chinmoy New Year's Day Half Marathon
The Sri Chinmoy New Year's Day Half Marathon is held on January 1 in Flushing Meadows Corona Park, Queens, New York. The event uses a USATF certified course, certification number NY22047DNB, that circles past the Unisphere, the Queens Museum of Art and the Pool of Industry also known as the Fountain of the Planets.
The Half Marathon consists of a 0.36 mile start loop plus ten 1.274 mile main loops with mile signs placed along the route. The course is described as flat and fast and all runners' laps are counted. There is one main aid station next to Race Day Central supplying water and Skratch Hydration and additional aid is provided approximately every mile.
On course support and event services include free parking near Race Day Central, bag check, custom long sleeve race tops in a range of sizes, custom finisher medals for all finishers and free race photos. Packet shipping is available for a fee and packets are scheduled to ship in bulk. A post race pancake breakfast is provided with toppings including real maple syrup and whipped cream.
Entry fees are tiered by date. Entries cannot be transferred to another person. The event enforces a 3 hour time limit or a 13 minute 45 second per mile minimum pace and requires participants to be 16 years or older on race day. If the event must be cancelled for reasons beyond the organisers control it will be converted to a virtual race with shirts and medals mailed to participants.
