About the race
The World AIDS Marathon, Half Marathon, 10K and 5K takes place on December 1, 2026 at Rockaway Beach Playground in Far Rockaway, New York. The event offers both in-person and virtual participation.

The 5K runs west to a turnaround and back. The 10K follows the 5K route twice. The half marathon completes a full circuit twice and the marathon completes the circuit four times. The course passes a bandshell at 95th Street that runners pass multiple times.
Amenities include a dry-fit t-shirt painted by a Kenyan artist and a matching medal, water or sports drink stations approximately every 1.5 miles, snacks, personalized bibs if registered three weeks in advance, live text/email results, free finish line photos, a bag check area, and bathrooms at 67th Street and 86th Street. Some off-street parking is available and local hotel discounts are offered to participants.
There are in-person and virtual registration options; virtual participants receive mailed bibs before the event and may upload times and photos during the designated posting window. There is no registration charge for special needs children or adults and for people living with HIV/AIDS; special needs participants must be accompanied by a guide.
Proceeds support the organizer’s work in Kenya and local AIDS service organizations and charities. Awards and team donation incentives are part of the event. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
