Event overview
The Sri Chinmoy 24-Hour, 12-Hour, Sunset Half-Marathon and Midnight Marathon are held across two consecutive days in June at Rockland Lake State Park in Congers, New York. The event offers timed 24-hour and 12-hour ultrarunning competitions plus a Midnight Marathon and a Sunset Half-Marathon. Registration opens in early December; entries cannot be transferred and there is no race-day registration.
Course, support and rules
The course is a USATF-certified, paved loop of 2.95 miles around Rockland Lake. The loop is described as flat and repaved in 2020. A main aid station is located at the race staging area and two basic water-only aid stations are positioned along the loop (near mile 1 and mile 2). All food provided at the main aid station is vegetarian. Lap counting is done manually; runners must wear their bib visible on the front to have laps recorded. Headlamps are recommended after dark because there are no lights on the course. Overnight safety measures include staffed aid stations, a continuous cyclist on course from sundown until sunup, and park police patrols.
Additional details: RVs are allowed in the parking lot without hookups (advance notice required), rest areas are permitted on the grass with limits on tent style and size, medical personnel are on-site for emergencies only, all finishers receive medals, participants must be 18 or older, and pets are prohibited in the park from May through September.
Fees and awards
Advance registration fees vary by date and event. Awards include age-group placements for the 12-Hour and 24-Hour events and overall awards for the Midnight Marathon; medals are awarded to all finishers. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
