Sri Chinmoy Sunset Half-Marathon
The Sri Chinmoy Sunset Half-Marathon is a half-marathon held at Rockland Lake State Park in Congers, New York. The course uses a USATF certified, paved loop of 2.95 mile that is described as flat and smooth; just over four laps equal the half-marathon distance. The loop was repaved in 2020 and is noted as having no bumps, cracks or potholes. Race staging is near the south end of Parking Field 5.
Aid stations are located every mile, including one main well stocked station. Three restrooms with running water are available along the course at parking fields 5, 6 and 3; they are lit for night use. Medical personnel will be on site for emergencies. Nighttime support includes very basic course lighting, a cyclist who will circle the course continuously until sunrise, and a park police vehicle present overnight.
Timing is managed with Race Result chip timing and a semi automated backup system; runners must keep their race bib visible on the front of the torso when passing the timing station. All finishers receive custom medals and top three men and top three women overall are recognized; medals for all finishers will be awarded as they finish. Custom race shirts are guaranteed for participants registered by May 23 and are available in unisex and women's fitted sizes. All participants must be 16 or older. Entries cannot be transferred and race day registration is not permitted. Registration fees vary by date. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
