Squatchy Hooky: Lake to Summit

Squatchy Hooky is a trail event at Rockland Lake State Park in Nyack, New York, offering two distinct courses and a capped field. The event is limited to 200 participants across both distances and is a first-year race.

Distances:

  • 5K: a flat, paved loop around Rockland Lake with wide views, gentle terrain, and accessible restrooms along the route.
  • 10K: a rugged mountain course on the Long Path to Hook Mountain Summit with about 1,300 ft of elevation gain, rocky ledges, steep climbs and descents, and sections with dangerous dropoffs near the summit.

The 5K includes a dedicated Wheelchair Division and is fully accessible; the 10K is not recommended for wheeled mobility devices. One on-course aid station called "9W" serves the 10K at mile 4.25 with water, snacks, and Skratch and is not crew-accessible. The course is marked with colored ribbons: yellow/black for the 5K and pink for the 10K.

All events use Parking Field #4 as the start and finish area and permanent accessible restrooms are available there. There is a 3.5 hour cutoff for all events. The organizer does not offer refunds; limited deferral options and specific policies for pregnancy, community care, and injury are described by the event. Pacers or guides are permitted for athletes over 60 and for athletes with disabilities with prior registration. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
