Event details

Squatchywaska Mountainfest takes place on April 25, 2026, in Ellenville, New York, with the start and finish at Berme Road Park. The event offers two distances:

  • 25K (course runs closer to 17 miles)
  • 10 miler

Registration opens January 1, 2026. The field is capped at 150 participants across both events. The event benefits the nonprofit Run Wild, Inc. Charity bibs are available (three for each distance) and require a $200 fundraising or donation commitment.

Course and logistics

Both routes are lollipop-format mountain courses on the Shawangunk Ridge. Terrain includes technical singletrack with rocks and roots, sections of crushed gravel carriage roads, cliffs, and steep climbs. Elevation gain is listed as approximately 2,500 ft for the 25K and 1,800 ft for the 10 miler. Both distances begin with a sustained climb up Smiley Carriage Road (about 1,500+ ft over roughly 3.2 miles). Public transit options are not available to arrive in time for the race start.

Cutoffs, aid stations, and markings

Both events have a 6-hour overall cutoff. Finish pace targets are about 21 minutes per mile for the 25K and 36 minutes per mile for the 10 miler. There are two on-course aid stations (Smiley and Maratanza) supplying water, Skratch hydration, and snacks. The course will be marked with neon pink/reflective ribbon and large directional arrows.

Safety and mandatory gear

Participants are required to attend or view a webinar about the local ecosystem prior to the event. All participants must carry a charged cell phone, a water bottle or hydration pack, at least extra calories, a whistle, and a GPX course map on a device. Trekking poles, headlamp, and additional items are recommended. The organizers do not recommend the event for children under 16. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
