Squatchywaska Mountainfest (April 25, 2026)

Squatchywaska Mountainfest is a trail running event in Ellenville, NY, starting and finishing at Berme Road Park. Two distances are offered:

  • 25K (runs closer to 17 miles)
  • 10 Miler

The event is capped at 150 participants across both distances. It benefits Run Wild, Inc. and supports a fundraising campaign to protect Verkeerder Kill Falls, which includes a stated goal of $500,000 to be raised before November 30, 2025 and an existing $50,000 contribution from Run Wild mission funds. Six charity bibs are available with a $200 fundraising or donation requirement.

Course, logistics and safety

Both courses are mountain routes with technical singletrack, many rocks and roots, and about 3+ miles of crushed gravel carriage roads. Elevation gain is listed as 2,500 ft for the 25K and 1,800 ft for the 10M. The format is a lollipop course. There is a 6-hour finish cutoff for both events; the 25K has two on-course cutoffs and the 10M has one on-course cutoff (locations given in mile markers). Two on-course aid stations provide water, Skratch hydration, and snacks; the start/finish area has porta-johns and private changing tents.

All participants are required to carry a charged cell phone, a water bottle or hydration pack (organizer recommends at least 1.5 L), at least 300 extra calories, a whistle, and a GPX course file on a device. A webinar about the local ecosystem is mandatory to attend or watch. Public transit is not available for timely arrival. Children under 16 are not recommended for this event. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
