About the race
The Squatchy Onesiefest 5K is a themed trail event held February 14, 2027 at Ramapo Valley County Reservation in Mahwah, New Jersey, with the start and finish at the New York-New Jersey Trail Conference Headquarters. The event is capped at 200 participants and encourages attendees to wear onesies; post-race awards for the top three male, female, and non-binary finishers require wearing a onesie.
Race format uses a 1.60 mile lollipop loop. Participants complete the loop twice to cover the 5K; a single loop is offered as a Fun Run. There is no time cutoff; the event continues until the last person finishes.
The course is a very flat, scenic loop around Scarlet Oak Pond. Most of the route is wide gravel and dirt trail, with a short singletrack connector under 0.20 miles between the park parking lot and the headquarters. The surface is generally non-technical; road shoes may be sufficient in dry conditions. Winter traction recommendations are provided before the event and trekking poles are allowed. The course will be marked with neon pink reflective ribbon and large red directional arrows.
Included items listed for participants are a bib and safety pins, a handcrafted finisher medal, and access to an aid station with water, electrolyte drink, and snacks. Restrooms are available in the reservation parking lot. The event partners with the New York-New Jersey Trail Conference.
