About the race
The Peter K. Oley Turkey Trot is a community road race held in Irvington, NY, on November 22, 2026. Runners follow a 2.5 mile course that begins by Dows Lane Elementary School (6 Dows Lane), loops through the village, and finishes near the Aqueduct in Memorial Park. The course mixes paved roads, dirt and grass sections, and varying elevation.
Registration opens September 16 at noon and closes November 21 at 12 PM. There is no race-day registration. Bib and T-shirt pickup takes place at Dows Lane Elementary School between 12:45 and 1:30 PM. Two registration categories and fee structures are listed: Irvington residents and non-residents, each with youth and adult rates. Age-based entry fees differ between the resident and non-resident categories.
Awards are presented to the top overall male and female finishers and in age groups: 10 & under, 11-13, 14-16, 17-19, 20-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, 60-69, and 70 & over. The event has been held annually since 1978 and is organized with vital help from the Girl Scouts.
The race is named for Peter K. Oley, who coached Irvington High School track and cross country for 50 seasons, led teams to a combined 27 Section 1 titles, earned multiple Coach of the Year honors, and was inducted into regional and state halls of fame.
