Sprint Tri Ponteland
The Sprint Tri Ponteland is a pool-based triathlon located at the Ponteland Leisure Centre in Great Britain. This event is organized by the Ponteland Tri Club and serves as a fixture in both the North East Regional Grand Prix and the Northern Trier Race Series. Participants can register for the event as individuals or as part of a relay team.
The competition consists of three distinct stages held on varied surfaces:
- 400m Pool Swim conducted across six lanes at the leisure centre.
- 20km Bike course through the surrounding local area.
- 5km Run completed on tarmac and pavement surfaces.
Non-members of the British Triathlon Federation (BTF) must obtain a day race pass to participate. The event features marshals stationed throughout the course to provide support. Awards are presented to the first, second, and third-place finishers for overall winners and within specific age groups.
The event incorporates several sustainability initiatives focused on reducing environmental impact. These measures include the use of eco-friendly medals made from recycled metal and wooden trophies. Water is provided at the finish line in eco-cups rather than plastic bottles, and event t-shirts are produced using eco-materials. Registration for the triathlon remains open until the day before the event, subject to availability. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
