Event details
The Run Northumberland BIG 10 Miler takes place on 29 November 2026 in Matfen, Newcastle upon Tyne (NE20 0RJ). The event distance is 10 Miles on a two-lap undulating road course around the village of Matfen. The route avoids the steeper hills of the Matfen 10k route and finishes on the village by-pass near the start area. The course is run on closed roads (road closures) and has distance markers at every mile.
Logistics and entries
Entry is open to runners aged 17 and over. Entry fees are £25.00 for affiliated entrants and £27.00 for unaffiliated entrants. Entries are limited to 300 and close on 23 November 2026. Registration and bag drop are located at Matfen Village Hall. Parking is on the village by-pass opposite Matfen Hall. Toilets and changing facilities are available near the start/finish area.
Chip timing is provided by Timing4Sport. Water stations are provided approximately every 3 miles. Refreshments are available at the village hall and first aid cover is provided.
Prizes and awards
Finishers receive a medal. Individual prizes are awarded for the first three male and female finishers, with vouchers and a trophy for the overall winners. Veteran age-group prizes are awarded in 5-year bands from W35+ and M40+ subject to minimum entry thresholds.
