Springfest 5K Run and 2 Mile Walk
The Springfest 5K Run/2 Mile Walk is an annual athletic event held in Kankakee, Illinois. The course consists of a combination of city streets and an asphalt trail. The start and finish lines are located on N 5th Street, just north of the local YMCA at the intersection with N 6th Avenue.
Two primary participation options are available:
- 5 km run
- 2 mile walk
Participants in the walk event are required to walk the entire distance; running or sprinting is not permitted. All participants must wear their bib numbers on their front, ensuring they are visible when entering the start area and crossing the finish line.
Post-race refreshments provided at the finish line include bottled water and pre-wrapped snacks such as bananas and granola bars. Facilities include restrooms at the YMCA and parking available in the YMCA north lot or across Kennedy Drive at the Meadowview Center.
This event serves as the second race in the Kankakee River Running Club’s Classic Series. All finishers receive an award, and additional recognitions are presented for overall and age group categories. A portion of the proceeds from the event is donated to the Kankakee Area YMCA.
