Spring in Lakeland
Spring in Lakeland is a long-distance event organized by the LDWA - Lakeland group. Based at the Ambleside Parish Centre, the route covers a distance of 23 miles and features approximately 4400ft of total ascent. The event is open to both runners and walkers over the age of 14.
The course follows a scenic loop through the Lake District, passing through several notable locations including:
- Loughrigg Tarn
- Skelwith Bridge
- High Tilberthwaite
- Coniston
- Tarn Hows
- Cumbria Way
Participants must possess navigational skills and are required to carry specific safety equipment, including a compass, whistle, emergency food and drink, windproof and waterproof clothing, and the relevant maps (OL 6 and 7). A route description must also be carried at all times. All entrants are required to bring their own mug for drinks.
Public car parks in Ambleside are available for participant use, though standard parking charges apply. Parking is prohibited within the church or Parish Centre grounds. Due to the event taking place during the lambing season, dogs are not permitted on the course. Limited catering is provided at the Coniston checkpoint and at the finish line in Ambleside.
