Spring in Lakeland

Spring in Lakeland is a long-distance event held in the Lake District, starting and finishing at the Ambleside Parish Centre. The route covers a distance of approximately 23 to 24 miles and involves 4400ft of total ascent. Both runners and walkers are invited to participate in this scenic event.

The course travels through several notable locations in the Cumbria region, including:

  • Loughrigg Tarn
  • Skelwith Bridge
  • High Tilberthwaite
  • Coniston
  • Tarn Hows
  • Cumbria Way

Participants are required to possess navigational skills and must carry specific safety equipment throughout the event. This mandatory kit includes a route description, maps (OL 6&7), a compass, a whistle, emergency food and drink, and waterproof and windproof upper clothing and trousers.

All entrants must check in at every checkpoint and report to the finish, even if they choose to retire. There is limited catering provided at the Coniston checkpoint and at the finish line. Due to the event taking place during lambing season, dogs are not permitted on the course.

Parking is available in public car parks within Ambleside, where standard charges apply. Participants are asked not to park in the church or Parish Centre grounds. The minimum age for entry is 14 years old. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
