Event overview
The Spring Creek Memorial Trail Run is scheduled for Saturday, July 18, 2026, near the gazebo on Spring Creek Road in Steamboat Springs. Distances offered are:
- 9.5 mile
- 5K
Registration opens January 1, 2026. Entry fees vary by distance and by date of registration. A race T-shirt is available for an additional fee and is not guaranteed after a set cutoff date. No refunds are offered; this running series benefits local non-profit organizations.
Course and logistics
The 9.5 mile race is an up-and-down loop on primitive trail, two track, single track and a brief section of forest service road. The course gains approximately 1,750 ft in the first 4 miles, with steep, rocky single track and several large downed trees on the ascent, followed by a smooth rolling downhill. The route includes at least a dozen stream crossings over bridges. The 5K is an out-and-back on rolling two track and single track.
There will be one fully stocked aid station for the 9.5 mile course at about 4 miles; the 5K will have no aid station but a volunteer at the turnaround. The event is cupless; runners are encouraged to use hand-held bottles or hydration packs. Walkers are allowed on the 5K but not on the 9.5 mile course. Pets are not permitted in the 9.5 mile race. Parking near the reservoir is not permitted; parking is limited and shuttle or high school parking is recommended, with a short walk to the start.
