Spirit Challenge - Steamboat Springs Running Series
The Spirit Challenge is a local race day in Steamboat Springs offering three distances: a 10k, a 5k and a Kid’s Fun Run. The event is scheduled for May 16, 2026, at Steamboat Springs Middle School. Proceeds benefit the Yampa Valley Autism Program. Leashed pets are welcome and there is ample parking in the school lot.

Course details note that most racing is on paved roads while the 5k includes a short section on trail. The 5k follows a rolling road route from the school parking lot via Amethyst Drive, Strawberry Park Road, N. Park Road, Stehley Park onto the Butcherknife trail, then McKinley Street and Maple Street back to Amethyst Drive. The 10k is a rolling out-and-back through Strawberry Park, beginning at the school parking lot and turning around toward Highland Road. The Kid’s Fun Run is two laps around the school track.
One aid station is provided at the 10k turnaround only. Awards for first through third place in male and female divisions are presented near the start and finish, and every participant is entered in a post-race prize raffle.
